My Heritage Part 2

So I got my 23andMe results back on Monday and did end up getting some surprises that I didn't really expect.
I'm going to divide it up into the categories given going from what I have the least of to the most.
So here we go!

Oceanian

I got nothing unsurprisingly

South Asian

Once again, I got nothing unsurprisingly

Sub-Saharan African

0.9% here which I'm not surprised since it's probably from where the Middle Eastern ancestors originated

Unassigned

There's 7.1% of me that's just left unassigned so... yeah...

Middle Eastern and North African

11.7% here and not surprised in the slightest as 6.9% of that is Middle Eastern and I knew that's where my great grandfather's family was from
3.7% is just broadly these areas so there could be even more in there, who knows?

East Asian and Native American

Here's where the first surprise came from.
I am 28.2% East Asian and Native American and 26.1% of that is Native American
I knew that I had some Native American and loads of indigenous Mexican blood, but I didn't expect to be more than a quarter Native American. I was convinced it'd be like 10% at most.

European

Now to the large portion of my DNA, I am 52% European.

I am 40.6% Southern European with 22.1% of that being Iberian. Not surprising since so much of my family is Hispanic.
Second surprise is that, apparently, I am 3.7% Italian which has never been mentioned in my family despite how much we love culture and genealogy.
Also the remaining 14.8% is just broadly the same stuff.

Third surprise, I am apparently 4.7% Ashkenazi Jewish.
Direct quote after I read this: "What the f**k, my family is so Catholic, Jesus is jealous!"
Even after sharing this with my family, none of us can even figure out where this would have come from.

Final surprise, I am only 4.3% Northwestern European and only 2.1% of that is British and Irish which is wayyyyyy less than I expected.
However, my father, being the scientist he is, had somewhat of an explanation for this. Out of my middle sister and I, she has more physical features expected of the Irish side while I have the more of the Mexican and Arabic. Meaning if she took this, it's likely that I'd have far more of the Middle Eastern DNA than she does, but she'd have more Irish.

Despite my misgivings at the beginning of how much I'd actually get from this experience, I found it really fun.
Love you all and adios!
